LG’s Bullet series phones have been known for their good performance and rich features. But in terms of looks,they have been nothing more than ordinary. However, LG KP115 has changed this trend,as besides having ample features,it is also a good looking device. A red coloured strip running all around its all-black plastic body. On the left panel is the charger-cum-headphone-cum-USB slot. The back panel has the loudspeaker. The front panel has a 1.5 inch screen, which could have been bigger as there is a lot of space between the screen and the control key cluster.

The conventional D-Pad has been replaced with four separate navigation keys. The left and right direction keys also double up as a forward and backward keys for the music function.
Below it lies the alphanumeric keypad that is hard to press and uncomfortable to use while typing long messages.LG KP 115 is a nice phone from LG with FM, GPRS and many other features.

Musically Yours

As far as multimedia features are concerned, the phone comes with an FM radio, music player and a voice recorder. The voice quality in loudspeaker mode is good but even better when listened through headset.

Saving FM channels is an easy task and can save upto 12 channels. However, the option of listening to FM in the background is missing.

Users have the option of expansing the phone’s memory through a microSD card. The LG KP115 also supports GPRS, although the small screen dampens the Web browsing experience. The battery back up of the phone is not as expected. The device has talktime of just two hours.

The HTC Touch Viva is a successor to the HTC Touch, which was the first HTC device launched in India. Expectedly, the device looks cool, is extremely stylish, elegant and extremely comfortable to hold. However, no attempts have been made to change its appearance. The HTC Touch Viva comes with the same black, glossy exterior, shape, weight and dimensions as the HTC Touch. The only notable difference is that it works only on Idea network. The user interface of this model has been updated and similar to the one seen in Touch diamond and Touch Pro.

The 2.8 Inch TFT touch sensitive screen predominates the front panel. Beneath the screen is the D-pad with calling keys on either sides. The back panel has the camera and the The power key on top of the phone can also be used for locking and unlocking the device. The bottom panel has the USB-cum-charger slot, while the left panel has the volume keys.

The HTC Touch Viva comes with the new TouchFLO 3D and supports finger swipe technology. The finger touch feature is very responsive. However, the screen is inset and the grooves are quite deep. Hence, a lot of dust gets accumulated around it. This also makes accessing the sides of the screen with the thumb a little difficult. The device supports the hand-writing recognition feature for writing messages and e-mails. This feature works better than expected. The phone also has a compact QWERTY keypad as well.

The HTC Touch Viva is loaded with applications and uses it’s 128 MB RAM to run them. It has almost all the basic applications that users would wish for in a Pocket PC. The phone runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 OSOffice Suite and comes with an that enables users to view, edit, create New Word, Excel and Powerpoint files. This handset also has the latest versions of Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player and supports push mail. The Opera Mobile Browser is pre-installed and enhances the Web-Browsing experience.
The Adobe Reader LE lets the users access PDF files anytime, anywhere. Other applications supported by the HTC Touch Viva include Zip, You Tube, IBlend, RSS Hub, Streaming Media and Voice commander.
Users can add their favorite applications to the programmes page. Connectivity options include Bluetooth, GPRS and Wi-Fi. however, GPS and 3G feature are missing.

The HTC Touch could not be like Viva upto our expectations as far as it’s multimedia features are concerned. The device has 2.0 megapixel camera. the clicked pictures and videos can be directly uploaded to the Internet.
The phone comes with Windows Media Player, but lacks an FM radio transmitter. The audio quality in Loudspeaker mode is average. The audio booster feature is plugged in. It boosts the audio quality.
The battery backup of the device is very good. A single charge lasts for five hours of talktime without playing music and a little browsing.

The HTC Touch costs Rs 15,500. At this price, it is definitely one of the best smartphones available in the market. Other alternatives include the Asus P320 for Rs 12,000 and the Motorola A610 Ming for Rs 14,500.
